To create, one must first question everything. – Eileen Gray
Questioning everything before creating and making common sense in answering in creation turns into Architecture.
I believe that’s how Eileen Gray made her Architectural marvel.
The follow up contents will tell you how she landed in Architecture and created fame, name for her in the industry.
An Irish woman with a life in London was the first woman to enter Slade Fine Art School for painting in 1898. She wasn’t content with painting course. She further looked into specific areas of her interest. She found lacquer works interesting and practiced it from a Japanese. From painting she switched her lacquer techniques to panel and screen designs as she felt it were more useful.
Later she opened up her own business as an outlet for her designs. Her furniture designs, screens were recognized by famous architects like Mies van der Rohe, Le Corbusier. She gradually moved her interest in planning. She then found her love with the architect Jean Badovici who is a French critic.

Her first Architectural design was E-1027. A residence for her and her love. She coded the name of the house too – E for Eileen, 10, 2 and 7 for J, B and G as of the alphabetical order.
I hope you also found it interesting as me. Stay tuned for more interesting architecture contents in a minute read.
