Title says it all about the beginning. Yes, the story begins with the main character travelling on her vacation. I will try to give this review without much spoilers as it is worth your time. The plot is so interesting that I don’t want to ruin it for you.
The entire content has 3 parts – Jade, Marta and again Jade. Each part goes in each person’s perspective. The first part and third part begin in Jade’s voice as if she is telling us about the plot with herself as first person. The second part alone in the character Marta’s voice.
The whole story happens in one location where Jade goes for her vacation. That’s where she gets to meet new people, new experiences, and a new love life too. But that love doesn’t last long in romance and the story takes up twist.
The second part is all about the story of the same place and people but from Marta’s perspective.
The third part is again in Jade’s voice in which the story gets its closure with underlying moves and circumstances which Jade wasn’t aware of. This last part is quite predictable. Also, the author has played it well and has kept it short with the pleasing end to the reader.
The author’s writing skills and language are good. There are few vocabularies that are out of my knowledge, like crescendo, sweltering, mosey, scuttling, premonition, ghoul. But don’t worry, if you’ve a stronger vocabulary there aren’t too many new words to make dictionary trips. Another thing I noticed in this is Marta’s part is supposed to be in different tone with different way of telling. Yet, it sounds the same as Jade’s to me. Especially, when Jade finds herself in a helpless situation, the words used to express her situation and mind voice is the same as Marta’s part when Marta finds herself in strange helpless situations. Even though, both characters face similar circumstances, I suppose their way of expressing and mind voice should be different. The author could’ve given it a different style. Except for this I didn’t find anything disappointing.
Interesting story outweighs the tone. It just kept me in the edge to know what happens next. And so, my ratings are

I have tried my best to state the points without giving spoilers. If you like suspense novels, you would certainly love this. I can vouch it would be an entertaining and edgy read of the year for you.
